Road Trip Diaries: Bangalore to Ooty & Coonoor

Ciao Sweets,

Somewhere over a death-by power-point-session today, I began wondering about the my most calm vacation. Immediately my brain connected dots to our monsoon Coonoor visit as I realised I was smiling ear to ear. I am penning down this throwback post encapsulating some amazing memories from our road trip diaries: Bangalore to Ooty & Coonoor.

Time: Month of July (Birthday Trip)

Time Taken: 9 hours with break

Route: Bangalore -> Hosur->Gundlupet -> Bandipur Forest -> Ooty->Coonoor

The Road Trip:

Early morning drive of Bangalore is one of the best views the city will offer. It was approximately around 5 AM which we started from BTM. Only after we came through the narrow national highways, we realised Google maps has chosen a shortcut which had picturesque views in the platter which ran in parallel to farms and huge old trees. The month of July had caressed sunflowers blooming in nature’s womb. These fields look like out of a magical tale for sure.

Out of a Magical Story, Sunflower Fields
Can you spot me, Sunflower Fields

The drive through Bandipur forest is a cherry on top for all our road trips in South India. July is the only month where we have noticed deer and elephant herds basking in sun and showing off a little.

The view of Niligiris through the forest transcended me to a magical land. Candy cotton clouds in the clear blue sky with mystical hills were a treat to watch as we drove by.

The Drive

Stay: Tea Nest Resort

After the jungle ride and crossing 36 hair pin turns, we reached Conoor. I had picked Tea Nest Resort for our stay. If you are driving there, it is wiser to call the property as you might miss the narrow turn. Soon after getting lost twice in a row and going on in circles, we found this hidden gem amidst lust green tea gardens.

Spotting a Bison, sipping free aromatic tea plus watching shooting stars over my birthday dinner which served 7 course meal was one of a kind experience of my life. Being a “never settle alpha female” probably this is the farthest satisfaction I have ever experienced. Tea Nest staff deserves a big thumbs up for their immaculate services and pleasant attitude.

What not to miss in Coonoor?

Tea Gardens:

Even if Tea Nest provided fabulous tea garden views, it was fun to be in the Highlands tea estate. A must visit spot for sure for tea lovers. Their fresh tea packs are fabulous and worth a try.

Dolphin’s Nose:

Clouds floated by as we bid adieu to the delicious tea and views of the gorgeous tea estate and moved to Dolphin’s nose view point.

St.Catherine falls View

Over viewing St.Catherine falls and lush green forests Dolphin’s Nose is a must see scenic point.

Lamb’s Rock:

Nestled in the slopes of Nilgiris ‘Lamb rock’ boasts views of Coimbatore plains. The gorgeous views of hills, made me wonder if I am attracted to people like them. Tall mysterious and unattainable; may be I am.

Romancing the hills, Lambs Rock

Ooty Half Day Tour:

We visited a handful of scenic spots in Ooty keeping it lightly packed agenda. Covering Ooty lake and Sims park was not an out of the world experience for me. Ooty was crowded in July and making it through the crowd and selfie poppers was not very cool to me. Doddabetta Peak was an easy climb as it is adjacent to a park. The view of lush green forests is spectacular.

Overall Trip:

Falling in love is a phenomenal feeling and I think falling in love with the hills over and over again is a magical experience. Nilgiris range managed to entice me, every time I got a glimpse of them. This road trip opens a new perspective for me to visualize endless romance possibilities with the hills as if they speak to me (Cliche isn’t it?).

The road trip got me thinking that : (1. Work 2. Save 3. Travel 4. Repeat step 1) is a good algorithm to follow. So if you are reading this my dolce readers, my advise is to grab that suitcase and go on that beautiful journey which enables you to pen down no particular thoughts in that ‘overall trip‘ section; just a smile which runs from ear to ear while you write or think about the experience.

Are you driving to Conoor or Ooty soon? Let me know.

Seer Secrets Smoky Rose Geranium Hydrating Soy Milk Enzyme Body Cleanser Review

Hola Readers,

With sun playing peekaboo with clouds and occasional rains in Bangalore I am confused to call this climate summer. I miss my hometown Rourkela where summer months and rainy days were clear like black and white. The smell of petrichor while rain drops touched hot earth for the very first time drove me insane with happiness. Speaking of smell and fragrances, I am having a gala time trying out 3 amazing body washes with unique fragrances from Seer Secrets. I received the following variants from Seer Secrets:

  • Smoky Rose Geranium Hydrating Soy Milk Enzyme Body Cleanser with Rose Extract & Geranium Essential Oil (250ML)
  • Bergamot and Raw Sandhal Energizing Yogurt Enzyme Body Cleanser by Seer Secrets With Yogurt Extract & Bergamot and Sandalwood Essential Oil (100 Ml)
  • Labdanum and Patchouli Smoothening Yogurt Enzyme Body Cleanser by Seer Secrets With Yogurt and labdanum Extract & Patchouli Essential Oil (100ML)

I cannot wait to review Smoky Rose Geranium Hydrating Soy Milk Enzyme Body Cleanser with Rose Extract & Geranium Essential Oil which happens to my favourite out of the three variants. Hope you enjoy my review.

Price: Rs 599

Available: Here

  • It clears up acne, prevents wrinkles, improves skin elasticity and protects from skin infections.

My Take on Seer Secrets Smoky Rose Geranium Hydrating Soy Milk Enzyme Body Cleanser:

Being someone who has extra sensitive skin, I am always on a lookout for natural and chemical free skin care products. Also, my idea of a little bit of paradise daily, is to indulge in a luxurious bath with an aroma which tingles my senses. The first thing which made me fall in love with Smoky Rose Geranium Hydrating Soy Milk Enzyme Body Cleanser with Rose Extract & Geranium Essential Oil is the aroma. If fragrance could be depicted in words, then this body cleanser will be worthy of bagging a poetry. The perfume content is extremely mild and the sweet smell of rose and geranium balances out due to the smoky twist.

Packaging:  This body cleanser comes in a sturdy see through bottle with a pump dispenser. The pump dispenses just the amount of product and see through packaging helps me keep track of how much product remains in the bottle.
Consistency: This gel based body wash with not too runny and not too thick consistency. It is just right and spreads easily on a loofah. The product is translucent and glides on my body easily.

I love the fact that these body cleanser is paraben and sulphates free. Seer secrets does not test on animals and uses moisturising base of coconut extracts which provides extra brownie points for skin love. The quantity versus price ratio is an absolute delight for me.

It would have been a perfect luxury bath product if the aroma lingered a little longer on me post shower. However, this product fares extremely well on my sensitive dry skin. I feel moisturised post shower but I do not skip my moisturiser. It lathers fairly even with hard water leaving skin fresh. The shelf life is limited because the presence of preservatives is evidently less and the product is bent towards the natural side.

Pros of Seer Secrets Smoky Rose Geranium Hydrating Soy Milk Enzyme Body Cleanser:

  • Addictive sweet and smokey aroma
  • Moisturising feel post shower
  • Not tested on animals and harmful chemical free
  • Lathers well and gives a luxury shower feel
  • Leaves skin soft and fresh
  • Great packaging
  • Suits sensitive and dry skin
  • Value for money – aptly priced

Cons of Seer Secrets Smoky Rose Geranium Hydrating Soy Milk Enzyme Body Cleanser:

  • Aroma does not stay on body post shower

Rating: 5 / 5

Final Words: I am enjoying using Smoky Rose Geranium Hydrating Soy Milk Enzyme Body Cleanser from Seer Secrets. So many pros for this heavenly smelling body cleanser from someone as demanding as me speaks tons about the brand. Looking forward to try more variants from this skin friendly brand.

Khadi Rose Aloe Vera Massage Gel Review

Ciao People,

Summers are here and our skin needs all the protection it can get from the hot sun. Today I am reviewing Khadi Rose Aloe Vera Massage Gel which has proved a boon for sun burns and irritation for me. This product reminds me of nostalgic candy smell from the 90s.

I was thinking of adding something personal and fresh to my posts. So, from now on I will write about what song plays in my mind (read my room).

Current Song: Ek Ajnabee Haseena Se Yun Mulakat Ho gai..

So darlings, sip on something cool and enjoy the read.

Price: 160 100 Gms

What Khadi Claims: Khadi Natural™ Rose & Alovera Facial Massage Gel is refreshing, relaxing, exfoliates skin with amazing healing properties.

Instruction of use: Apply in a circular motion on the face and neck. Wipe off with a moist cotton pad. Rinse with water and pat dry.

Ingredients: Rose Extract, Geranium Oil,Ashwagandha Extract,Demineralized Water,E.D.T.A, Propyl Glycol, Gylcerine, Stabalized Aloevera Gel,Carbomer,Kathon Cg,Sodium Hydroxide,Xylitylglucoside,Anhydroxylitol,Xylitol,Aloevera Extract, Liquorice Extract,Fragrance, Color

My Experience with Khadi Rose Aloe Vera Massage Gel:

Packaging: Khadi Rose Aloe Vera Massage Gel comes in a basic see through tub. It has a screw cap and quality of the tub is sturdy. Packaging is pretty simple and tub packaging provides a scope of unhygienic condition. A spatula would have been a plus with this tube.

Texture : This product is not too runny and has a perfect gel consistency. It spreads evenly on my face and does not exactly feel light weight during first contact with my skin. However, it does not suffocate skin once blended well.

The Khadi Rose Aloe Vera Massage Gel smells explicitly of roses and reminds me of a candy called Pan Pasand (partly). Once applied the smell subsides and leaves a lingering rose aroma. I like the fact that the claim of relaxation is lived up to. The gel feels refreshing and massage with this product definitely brings a soothing feeling. I have used it in minor cuts incurred during threading of due to a minor rash and it works miraculously which shows evident presence of Aloe Vera.

The cooling property of Khadi Rose Aloe Vera Massage Gel makes it ideal for my summer skin care stash. It also works as a post waxing balm. Post a sunny day, a home facial including this gel works as a magic for my sensitive skin. However, it does not really work on tan or has any fairness claim to live up to.

I really like the fact that this product is value for money. It fits well in budget and the quantity and quality of the gel is exceptional.

Pros of Khadi Rose Aloe Vera Massage Gel :
  • Lives up to the claim of a refreshing, calming soothing gel with healing properties.
  • Does not suffocate skin
  • Strong smell settles into subtle fragrance post application
  • Has multiple usages.
  • Ideal for summer product list
  • Value for money
  • Good with sensitive skin
Cons of Khadi Rose Aloe Vera Massage Gel :
  • Hygiene issue due to tub packaging
Rating: 4.75 / 5
Final Words:

A budget product which will work as magic for sensitive skinned beauties. A big thumbs up for this gel from my side.

Solo Girl Travelogue: Layover Experience in Colombo, Srilanka

Happy April Readers!

Summers are here. Bangalore sun is already keen on melting my face off. This summer is way hotter than I was expecting it to be. I used to wait for summer vacation as a kid, but now I might just live in a freezer and call it home.Today, I am doing a throwback post for my only solo travel experience during a layover in Colombo, Srilanka. I did not expect that a layover of a day would turn out to be one of my most memorable experiences in my life. So read on and enjoy Colombo through my captures.

Galle Face Beach
Flight: SriLankan Airlines
Climate: Extremely Warm and Windy
Month: September
The Story Behind:

I think September is my magical month as new experiences and relationships usually come to my life during this month. After I finished my MBA from Bradford-Perguia business school, I was heading home when this layover came my way. I was flying with Srilankan Airlines from Rome to Bangalore via Colombo.I took a city tour in a private cab from the hotel considering my safety. It costed me 30 EU(approx Rs 2100 +) which is a total rip-off. The Colombo city tour will cost you much lesser if you choose to travel on your own or take a tuk-tuk.

Confession I was planning to laze around in the hotel, but once landed in Colombo I pushed myself to not to miss this sun spirited city.

Goldi Sands Hotel, Negombo

Goldi Sands Hotel, Negombo is a beautiful sea facing property. I was happy to bag a complimentary stay in this beautiful property due to Srilankan Airlines. The food spread and quality of room was exceptional during my stay (which was a couple of hours).

Room and  your blogger (old me)

Goldi Sands Hotel stands out with serene and neat hotel grounds. It has a gorgeous pool adding to its glory. The property is about 15-20 minutes away from the Colombo Airport (Bandaranaike International Airport) and around 32km from the city of Colombo.

Top 5 Tourist Attractions of Colombo:

1. Beira Lake: This sparkling lake is like an emerald nestled amidst a ring of major business complexes. It is connected to many intricate canals providing easy way of transporting goods within the city.
Beira Lake
2. Christian Reformed Church: Christian Reformed Church was established in 1642.It is a must-visit spot during Colombo visit being an archaeological beauty.
Christian Reformed Church
3. Gangaramaya Temple:  It is the most visited Buddhist temple in Colombo. I loved the modern architecture embedded with cultural essence.
Gangaramaya Temple

4. Canals and Roads: As impressive as it can be, the Colombo city is clean and has wide and beautiful roads. Even the canals are beautifully constructed and its a vision to see various nuances of fresh water and slat water meet.

Colombo City- Roads
5. Galle face beach: Even though there is no particular order to visit places in Colombo, Galle face beach was my last stop.It is a gorgeous shore and the windy day just added to the glory of this place.
Galle Face Beach

Downers: I also came across someone who posed as a hotel manager and talked me into buying gems from a local exhibition. Let me tell you that it was stupid of me to get entangled in his conversation and buy a gem. After I came back to my cab, the driver of my cab told me that impostors do that because they get commission out of it. I missed the local memento shops as I wasted time in the gem exhibition.
Adieu Colombo: The sun was at its peak and the view was breath taking when I came back from Galle face beach to my hotel room. I had to leave in a hurry as the hotel shuttle was leaving. Even with all that tan on my skin, I was happy about taking over this gorgeous city as a solo traveler. As this was my first experience it will always be listed in my special day diaries. Colombo serves as a budget travel city for a solo girl. I would love to go back once more and explore more of Srilanka.

Have you visited Colombo yet? Let me know in comments.

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip Liquid Lipstick: MARS Review| Swatches | FOTD

Hey Darlings,

Whoa, feels like it has been ages since I wrote. How are you my dearies? Since I was away for long I decided my come back post should be about my current favorite lipstick which is ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip Liquid Lipstick Mars.

Cost: Rs 725
Available: Instagram Store – @beautyngloss or here
What ColourPop Pop Says: Whether you’re from Mars or Venus this fuchsia will be fab on you!

My Take on ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip Liquid Lipstick MARS:

Packaging: ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip Liquid Lipstick Mars comes in a glass finish transparent tube with a metallic cap. I think the packaging is a little fragile than expected and I always end up treating it with care as if the lipstick will break if I drop it. The applicator does a good job, but I think the head of the applicator could have been a little flexible. Shade name for the lipstick is mentioned at the bottom of the tube and cardboard box in which the lipstick comes in.

Consistency: The consistency of this gorgeous matte liquid lipstick is towards the the runny/watery side while it is applied. I did not experience any tug on my lips and it spread easily on my lips. However, once the lipstick dries out it sets in a powder base absolute matte finish.
Pigmentation: Here is the best part of this lipstick, it is superbly pigmented. One swipe and lo, it covers my naturally brown lips with gorgeous reddish mixed poppy fuchsia color. I am totally in love with the color and pigmentation.

I need a heavy moisturizer on my lips before applying this matte lipstick. It is extremely drying once it is settles on lips. But the color is so brilliant that this has become my go-to lipstick. I think it will look flattering on all skin tones and suits a dusky girl like me brilliantly. It leaves a pink tint on lips while fading. As it is powder based, the lipstick fades with powder particles. It cannot survive a full meal, but does well with dry snacks. The staying power of this lipstick is good and stays for 8 hours without eating a full meal (have tried that when I was on back to back meetings).

All in all, Mars from ColourPop is hot shade for the season and it transforms a simple girl into a diva within a minute. Totally a selfie worthy shade.

Pros of ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip Liquid Lipstick MARS:

  • Clear Packaging
  • Beautiful Shade
  • Impeccable Covergae
  • Absolute Matte finish
  • Leaves a pink tint on lips after fading
  • Good staying power

Cons of ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip Liquid Lipstick MARS:

  • Too drying on lips
  • Leaves powdery flakes on food while fading

Poutometer : 4 on 5

Final word: Mars has totally woed me and I am a little biased towards this gorgeous shade. I believe it gives a pumped up effect to my lips and sets the tone for this summer. A must try for the season.

Hey Dollies,

Passing a hectic work week and entering a new one can be tough; But tougher is staying away from reviews of some divine makeup goodies. Today I am reviewing Colorpop Lippie Stix ‘Bossy’ from my mini Colurpop haul. I am not a red person but given Valentine day is around the corner I thought of giving this a try. I will be writing about products which I think will help getting ready for a special date on Valentine day. Hope you readers like it.

Cost: Rs 500
Available: Instagram Store – @beautyngloss or here

My Take on Colorpop Lippie Stix Bossy:

Packaging: The packaging is very neat. The lipstick comes in a twist up pen with a cap which closes with a click. The details of the product is engraved on the twist up pen. Shade name is mentioned at the bottom of the pen.

Consistency: The consistency of Colorpop Lippie Stix is soft and glides pretty easily on my lips. These are not the drying matte lipsticks and has a little moisturising sheen on lips. A tissue can be dabbed or loose powder can be applied to attain that perfect matte look. The formula is hydrating but upon initial application
Pigmentation: The pigmentation of this product is more than average. However, I can easily build it with a couple of strokes.

Bossy is a classic red from the Lippie Stix range of Colorpop. This red beauty has blue undertone. Usually, I am not a red lipstick person but I will make an exception for this one. I think this is a very bridal shade and Indian skin tones will look gorgeous.

As it is not completely opaque, it shows up as cherry red on my brown lips. I have set it with a tissue and noticed that it stays easily for 5-6 hours without heavy meals.

This lipstick does not bleed and the edges of my lips are smooth with minimal smudges over the course of time. It does not fade unevenly and leaves a pinkish tint on lips while fading. Colourpop has so many shades for these lippie stix range and I wish to try them all. I think they are quiet affordable and aptly priced. I can’t wait to review the next shade which is named as Brink from this range.

This was my first order from Instagram store @beautyngloss. They have done a fabulous job with good packaging and delivery.

Pros of Colorpop Lippie Stix Bossy:
  • Array of shades
  • Hydrating soft texture
  • Easily glides on feel on lips
  • Soft-matte finish
  • Buildable good coverage for pigmented lips
  • Stays for 5-6 hours on lips
  • Does not bleed with minimal smudge
  • Leaves a pink tint on lips after fading
  • Aptly priced
Cons of Colorpop Lippie Stix Bossy:
  • Not a con for all, but the colour is a little too bold for my personality.

Poutometer : 4.5 on 5
Final word: Bossy is an apt name for this shade from Colurpop Lippie Stix range and I believe it is meant for the ladies who rule those boardrooms and ballrooms with equal elegance. I recommend it and give it a double thumbs up!

Makeup Revolution I Heart Makeup Hearts Blusher Blushing Heart Review, Swatches & FOTD

Ciao Bombshells,

January passed by in a whim and I just cannot get over my 31st December night look. I know New year eve is long gone, but festivity hues keeps my happy mood going. Today I am writing about a blush which I have used while getting ready for my New year eve party look. I have been obsessed about it since I first laid my eyes on it. I sound like a crazy lover, right? Without anymore of my stories let’s cut to the chase of my experience of this divine looking blush called Makeup Revolution I Heart Makeup Hearts Blusher Blushing Heart.

Price: Rs 790 (Select BeautyBox India as vendor option) for 10 gm

Available: Here

My Experience with Makeup Revolution I Heart Makeup Hearts Blusher Blushing Heart:

Packaging: Best thing about this Too faced dupe blush from Make Up Revolution is that it scores with cute packaging. It comes in a rectangular cardboard box with a heart shape cardboard packet inside. Baked blush is safely tucked in a plastic palette inside the cardboard box.
Texture: I think the text texture is not satiny of this baked blush and the shimmer particles make it a little dry and gritty. Overall, texture is not the product’s forte.
Pigmentation: I am in love with the pigmentation of this baby. It is highly pigmented and the mixture of the three shades can be attained with one swoosh of brush.

The shades of the blush are all pink based and I cannot clearly differentiate them on my cheeks if applied separately. However, when I use them together it gives a beautiful look to my cheeks. A total win-win for girls who like pink blush on their cheek. The blush easily lasts 4-5 hours and will last even longer with a makeup fixing/protection spray. All in all, I am so proud of having this cute packaged blush from Makeup revolution on my shelf.

Brand Evaluation – Make Up Revolution: I think Makeup revolution is a demi-luxury brand in Indian market, mostly because it is priced like that. However in UK, this is one of cheapest drug store brand available. Forte of this brand is the array of products and diversity in each range with affordability. Totally worth to buy during Amazon sale.

Pros of Makeup Revolution I Heart Makeup Hearts Blusher Blushing Heart:
  • Gorgeous packaging
  • Good Pigmentation
  • Bliss for pink blush lovers
  • 4-5 hours stay-time on cheek
Cons of Makeup Revolution I Heart Makeup Hearts Blusher Blushing Heart:
  • Expensive in Indian market
  • Gritty and dry due to shimmer particles
  • Parabens and Talc in ingredients

Rating: 3.75 / 5

Final Word: I am biased toward good looking things and that’s why I think this one should be in every makeup lover’s stash. If you are travelling to UK, good thing will be to stock this brand. All in all, a try worthy cute pink blush.

Bangalore to Yercaud Road Trip & Must Visit Spots

Hello Chic People,

Whoa, it has been 22 days already into 2017. I can’t believe that I have not written for so long. Looks like this year is determined to pass by faster than anticipated. We celebrated 3 years of our marriage on 20th January and the day went like a dream with a quiet celebration. Speaking of celebration, how was your 31st night? We wanted to celebrate New years eve with a quick getaway so we got up really early on the last day of the year and drove to Yercaud. It is a gorgeous small town located near Salem. We stayed in TGI Star Holiday Resort and this was our second new years in the same resort. Without further delays let me share our experience for Bangalore to Yercaud road trip. Hope readers visit this hidden gem after reading this post.

Road Trip Begins:

Morning looked like a miracle with white mist all over the city. This made our early morning drive extremely pleasant and memorable. Video below shows our starting of our journey, subscribe beautyandthesuitcase Youtube channel to see short and sweet videos by us.

We started our journey from Bangalore at around 5:30 AM. Google map shows 4 hours and 18 minutes timeline from our home to destination.

Route: Bangalore(Whitefield)-> Hosur ->Krishnagiri -> Salem -> Yercaud(Star TGI Resort)

En-route Bangalore to Yercaud:

There are a plenty of eateries and A2B restaurants on the way. Washrooms are also available for usage in cafe coffee days. The drive is pleasant once you leave the maddening traffic of Hosur road.

The Drive:

Though it is an amazing drive with hills and turns on the way to Yercaud, it gets even better after crossing Salem. We witnessed 22 hair pin turns while  driving up hill from Salem to Yercaud.  As we got higher, the panoramic view from the hill amazed us after each second. I am sharing a video below depicting our uphill drive.

We reached the resort around around 11 AM after taking 1 break during our journey.

Places to Visit in Yercaud:

Yercaud is mostly a weekend trip destination. There are a few good resorts in Yercaud which provides cozy haven for couples and families; I am saying this because we rarely spotted singles there. New-years are particularly crowded considering it is very near from Bangalore and an hour’s drive from Salem.

  • GRT Nature Trails – Salem Rocks Restaurant :

GRT nature trails is the most popular resort in Yercaud. Though we did not stay there, we had our lunch at the resort restaurant called Salem Rocks. Sky Rocca is an elevated glass walk pathway adjacent to the restaurant. Visitors are welcome to relish views while waiting for food in the restaurant. It is one of a kind experience and we totally recommend it. Food is average and on the expensive side; but what food lacks in, gorgeous hills view compensated for.

  • Kiliyur falls:

As we were there for a short trip we covered Kiliyur falls first on 1st Jan Morning. Kiliyur falls is one of the best attractions in Yercaud. Nestled amidst Shervaroyan hill range in the eastern ghats of Tamil Nadu, this waterfalls is a must visit destination in Yercaud. It takes around 20 -25 minutes to get to the waterfalls by walk as the final 500 meters are unpaved rough pathway. Total height of the waterfall is 91 meters and the walk up hill is tough. The waterfalls does not have much water and some might think, the falls is not worth the hike. However, the valley is beautiful with lot of greenery around. Kiliyur-falls-yercaud-beautyandthesuitcase

A restaurant sits overlooking the falls and it is actually very relaxing to enjoy a lemonade while staring out of the window. Pardon me for not remembering the name of the restaurant, but I am sure visitors will find it easily as the location of this place is super cool.

Though we wanted to see Lady’s seat and the Big Lake, could not do that as crowd on 1st January was maddening. In fact we were heavily disappointed as our car got scratched by careless riders. If you are driving your own car, we would suggest to park your car way out in the lane and walk a few meters to visit the falls.

It took us half a day to get out of the thin lanes brimmed with traffic and make way for lunch. I changed my mind and asked shiv if we should stop by the lake. We took a turn to stop by but could not find a parking spot. The lake looked nothing special from outside with a small garden encircling the same with loads of people waiting for their turn to go for boating.

Over-All Trip:

New year’s eve was loads of fun at TGI Star Holiday resort. It is a beautiful property and the crowd is family inclined. I cannot wait to share our full review.

Glimpse of TGI Star Holiday Resort, Yercaud

Yercaud is everything we needed, a quick getaway, loads of fun on the last night of 2016, a sense of adventure, a good hike and really cool panoramic views; all this and more with a perfect resort with a lot pluses and minor hiccups.

Have you visited Yercaud yet? Lets us know your views.

Rohtang Snow-Point, Solang Valley & Him-Valley Amusement Park

Hello Chic people,

Woah, it’s almost year end and I cannot believe I have not written about the best trip of the year of 2016. Looks like 2016 was on a skate board which just rolled down quickly. So without further ado, let me jump in and write about Rohtang Snow-Point, Solang Valley and Him-Valley Amusement Park. Hope you guys are all warm and cozy; enjoy the read.

Rohtang Snow-line:

Those who have read about my article Top Tourist Attractions in Manali will know, how I wished for a snowfall when we reached this gorgeous town hidden in the snowy womb of Himachal. Snow makes everything look magical and fairy-tale like. Isn’t it? However, we started our day early with plenty of sunshine and no signs of snow-fall. The luxury of roaming around in deserted gorgeous places was long gone. Newly-weds flocked all over the Rohtang pass snow-line and pictures were being clicked in every nook and corner.

While a picture is worth a thousand words, I am sharing some beyond gorgeous view Rohtang snow-line offered our eyes.

Rohtang Snow line-beautyandthesuitcase

After seeing a million people walking towards the snowy peaks and slipping for 100 times, we called it quits somewhere climbing up by 70% as were exhausted. I am amazed the chai-walas and chat-walas made way to the top easily and got their business running on the top (like literally).

  • Talking of disappointments, I hated it how the snow had solidified and turned slippery. I had a terrible slip which ruined my snow trek clothes and shoes.
  • Too many people, it was like a sea of honeymooners there.
  • Winter caused a lose-lose scenario for us. There was no snow-fall, plus the more up we went, we got tanned with sun. Also, driver did not bother to get us further and called it quits with the snow-line.
  • There was no sport as such. Although we did spot a local turning a tube into a slider.
Facts and Costs:
  • Chat : 50 Rs
  • Tea: 30 Rs
  • Trekking stick : 20 Rs
  • Ambiance : Seated on Snow – Absolutely Divine 🙂
  • Renting snow suit : Starts with 250 Rs (Varies with vendor)
  • Renting snow boots: 100 Rs (Varies with vendor)

In-spite of all that, once you make it to at-least one peak; It makes everything worth it. It took us half a day to cover the Rohtang Snow-line and we were a little tired of all the trekking.

Solang Valley:

Post lunch, we made way to Solang valley. I could not wait to get out of the over-sized snow dress which made us look like a tubby. But, oh well everything was like an experience. On top of it, the melting snow water made it’s way to my dress. Sigh! The biggest mistake was to change my shoes. Now, my suede boots were not very good with the mud which was resulted due to snow melting. But of-course I could not have predicted that. In case you avoided the bunny holding saga earlier in the Manali city, you would get a second chance to hold the fuzzies in Solang valley.

The elevator which takes people up is a private one. And the guy who sold us the rip-off ticket claimed Switzerland will look like a joke in front of the beauty of Solang. His exact words were, “Upar Jake to dekhie, Switzerland khel lagega“. I whispered Shiv, I am unsure if this guy has not seen Switzerland on You-tube yet. Below is a small video glimpse of our elevator adventure in Solang.

A day which started with a lack of snowfall was made up by the gorgeous panoramic views. I saw a guy proposing his beloved getting down on a knee in Rohtang valley and it made the freezing evening glow in warmth.

Facts and Costs:
  • Elevator P.P: Rs 500 P.P {Joke about Switzerland – Free 🙂 }
  • Maggie : 100 Rs (Above 3200 mts)
  • Pizza Slice : Rs 200 (Avoid – Turns ice cold till you bring it to your table)

Him-Valley Amusement Park:

Cold winds made way while we descended from the glass elevator. Bidding adieu to the breath-taking views was tough, but so was facing the cold storm. We hopped on to cab and kept rubbing our palms together till we reached HimValley Amusement Park. They claim to be India’s first cultural and amusement park developed at an altitude of 7000 ft in Manali. I was smitten by the description and location. It is surrounded with snowy peaks and there could not be a better place for pictures. The park was deserted considering cold winds gushing in all directions.

The show, I would say was a flop. There were only 3 artists and dance looked out of sync. We were so bored that we did not bother clicking pictures and were much happy being seated at a back seat. We made our way out in less than 30 minutes to the deserted park and posed for some pictures. Honestly, if you are visiting in winters, this place can be skipped.

Facts and Costs:
  • Entry Fees : Rs 200 P.P, Food and amusement rides packages are different
  • Rides : Cost extra (We did not try them)

It started drizzling soon. We made way to the hotel and desperately needed to sip something hot. That was our cue to proceed for hotel and end an eventful day of Himachal adventure.

Next day, it took us 9+ hours to reach Chandigarh. With some threatening curves and slanting hills, it was time to travel in the plain lands. Cold winds were changed to hot air. Just for fun, I checked my phone ‘ Current temperature of Manali’ , it said ‘Currently Snowing’. Grr.. I growled and showed it to Shiv. He said may be it’s a way in which Manali wants us to visit again. Always helps to have a positive hubby. 🙂

My Experience At The Four Fountains De-Stress Spa, Brookfields | Precious Moroccan Oil & Sandalwood Cream Massage

Merry Christmas Divas!

It’s Sunday and I am still recovering from a bad throat pain. I had to even miss a Christmas picnic which I had been looking forward to. Sigh! This weekend is all about indoors with tablets and soups. But lucky me to get myself pampered with a spa day last Saturday. Read on to know about the wonderful experience I had at The Four Fountains De-Stress Spa when I tried an all new therapy – Precious Moroccan Oil & Sandalwood Cream Massage.

Getting to The Four Fountains De-Stress Spa, Brookfields:

Super easy to book an appointment with The Four Fountains De-Stress Spa, Brookfields branch in Bangalore. It is even easier to locate them, considering they are located on the main road in the below address:

Precious Moroccan Oil & Sandalwood Cream Massage:

Mostly I opt for Aroma therapy relaxing massage, but this time I was tempted to try their new therapy called Precious Moroccan Oil & Sandalwood Cream Massage. I love Sandalwood aroma and know that it is very good for skin brightening. Other ingredients like Moroccan oil  and Vitamin E entwined with Sandalwood further lured me to try this out. This also happens to be my first experience with a cream based massage.

Brookfield spa has got me hooked to amazing discounts for their happy hour memberships, hence I paid Rs 1399 for 60 mins of pure nirvana.

Ambience and Amenities of The Four Fountains De-Stress Spa:

The overall ambience of the spa is very positive and calm.

Touch and feel of this place shows attention to details.

Whitefield Four fountain spa has waiting lounge with luxurious and comfortable furniture. With soft music playing in the background, I don’t think anyone would object waiting here and relaxing on the loungers.

Relaxing Lounger

Massage rooms have just the right amount of light and a calming aura. Rooms are named as Calm, Peace, Energy and so on. Spa can accommodate a good no. of clients and even on weekends, the wait time is very less. The best feature is the neatness of this spa. Clothes for change, comb, soft slippers and disposable cover comes in a pouch which gives a privileged feel.

Changing Pouch

Even the door knobs are designed to give acupressure benefits; Now that’s what I call going an extra mile for customer satisfaction. I was intrigued about the small pouches hanging on doors and came to know that the doors which have pouches are taken/engaged and it is a Do not disturb sign.

Do not Disturb Pouch

Massage tables are soft and spacious. The provide a pillow, towels, hanger for convenience.

They also provide shower cap and hair dryer on request.

Every massage room is air conditioned with locker facility and positive messages on the wall. They have attached shower facilities which makes it a 10/10 on my expectation meter.

Spa Team at The Four Fountains De-Stress Spa, Brookfields:

I have visited Four-Fountain Jayanagar branch earlier and absolutely love their services. Once I moved near Whitefield, Brookfields Four-Fountain spa was convenient for me to visit. If you are visiting for the first time to the spa they will provide you a stress test based on which you will be advised a massage. They have an array of therapies to provide as per customer’s needs.

The reception staff is extremely polite and welcoming. The spa team aims to please and they do a pretty good job with it. Spa manager Dr. Sreelakshmi is all ears to improvement suggestions. She is proficient in working out flexible deals for revisiting customers.

Therapy Experience At The Four Fountains De-Stress Spa, Brookfields:

Gone are the days where oil was the only component for massage. Someone like me who prefers time effectiveness can opt for Precious Moroccan Oil & Sandalwood Cream Massage and happily walk out without shower after the therapy.

The cream used in this massage is extremely soft on skin. It completely pampered my dry skin and rejuvenated skin cells. My therapy took place in a dimly lit room with a soothing instrumental track playing in the background which added to the fabulous ambiance.
My massage therapist was Miss Grishna and she was very good at her work. The massage was relaxing with medium pressure and gentle strokes. Extra pressure or less pressure can be informed to the therapist and they work on pain points like magic. This therapy left me refreshed and charged. I noticed a healthy glow immediately after the therapy was complete after 60 mins. I received a complimentary 10 minute foot massage, which was like a cherry on the cake.

Post Therapy, after a long warm shower I made way to the reception where I was served green tea. I got a complimentary therapy card to choose from head or foot massage for my next visit. I learnt that upon membership renewal, complimentary points are provided which can accommodate 2 therapies comfortably. Now that’s a deal I am not missing.

Over All Rating: 5/5

Final Word for Four Fountain Spa:

I believe four-fountain spa has set some high benchmarks for affordable spa industry. Sure I would love some steam or Jacuzzi facilities here; But what I pay for, is actually more than reasonable for what I get. I am a delighted customer and I vouch for the value for money services I have received.

Have you visited the four-fountain spa yet? Comment and let me know your experiences.
